Everything we live — joy, loss, longing, hope — becomes a colour on the canvas of who we are.

I’m Marina Lonsdale — an artist, writer, and a woman who rebuilt her life through colour and honesty. For many years, my world revolved around caregiving, loss, and the ache that follows the passing of someone you love. When everything familiar disappeared, I had to find myself again. Creativity became the doorway back. Painting was the first spark. Words followed. And slowly, a new life took shape.

“Heart on Canvas” is more than a title for my website. To me, a canvas is life — open, imperfect, and always ready for new colour. Every emotion, every memory, every chapter becomes part of it. I paint, write, and create from the heart, and this site is a place where my stories live.
The butterfly is a small symbol of my creative life. Light, expressive, and full of movement, it reflects the way I create and has become part of my artistic identity.

I paint in a style I call Emotionism — art created from feeling rather than literal scenes. Texture, movement, and emotional presence guide everything I create. Painting became the place where love, memory, and strength found expression.

Writing grew from the same source. My book “Love Has No Expiry Date” explores mature-age dating, healing after heartbreak, understanding companionship, and trusting life again. I write about connection, resilience, and the ways we rediscover ourselves later in life.

Poetry is my third language, where emotion turns into rhythm and imagery shaped by lived experience. I create because it brings me back to myself. I share because someone else may find recognition or comfort in what I offer.

Today I live with purpose, creativity, and openness to the moments that matter. Art, writing, learning, nature, meaningful conversations, and human warmth shape my days.

Thank you for stepping into my world.
I hope something here stays with you — a colour, a line, a feeling.
